Hey everyone! I’m Klokinator, the author, so welcome to the Cryoverse! If you have ever been curious about the person behind these stories, this is the place to find those answers.

The Cryoverse is a project I’ve been building since late 2016. It all started as a simple reply to a Writing Prompt on Reddit, but the project escalated quickly. That initial serial was coined “The Cryopod to Hell” (TCTH) and moved to its own subreddit, where it garnered thousands of upvotes and comments from interested readers.

When I started, I was an amateur at the craft. However, thanks to the support of several beta readers and the foundation built during a year of English Writing in college, I quickly found my way. The more I wrote, the more I grew as an author. I soon recognized that the initial foundation of TCTH had a lot of room for improvement. In that first year or so, I wrote 1.2 million words across 490 chapters. Eventually, the flaws in the narrative grew out of control and I became dissatisfied with my work. I took a bold step and decided to completely rewrite the entire story from scratch. It was a difficult decision that resulted in the loss of a substantial number of readers since the original was not yet complete, but I felt it was necessary for the quality of the series.

The original draft was renamed “The Cryopod to Hell Classic,” and the new version became “The Cryopod to Hell Refresh.”

Cryopod Refresh has been a massive undertaking. I completely dug up the foundations of the Classic version to introduce major overhauls to the worldbuilding. Characters that some might have found boring or bland became entirely new entities with dynamic personalities, backstories, and abilities. For the fan favorites, I worked to improve the edges while keeping what made them so beloved, such as the character of Beelzebub, whom some readers considered the “true protagonist” of Classic at times.

The best way to describe my writing is not by telling you what my stories are about, (which is basically “the FATE series meets ancient conspiracies and sci-fi/magic wars along with a ton of mythology”) but what they are not about. I have a writing style I have coined ‘Avoidant Writing’. I look for things I don’t like, then aggressively cut them out of my writing. For example, I detest love triangles, so none of those exist. I hate melodrama, I HATE filler with a passion, and plenty of other bottom tier tropes that annoy me to no end. My writing is dense and every single chapter advances the story, the characters, the plot, sometimes two of them, sometimes even all three. I will not waste my time writing nonsense, nor waste your time making you read it.

While Cryopod Classic ended at 1.2 million words, I have been working on Refresh since mid-2017. As of early 2026, the story stands at over 3 million words. An exact word count can always be found inside the latest posted chapter for those who enjoy tracking the progress.

In addition to the main series, I wrote a “short” 380,000-word serial called The Last Precursor. After its run on Reddit, the story was updated and ported to Royal Road with a brand-new chapter in the middle, a new ending, and various story fixes throughout.

I have been writing the Cryoverse for over ten years now and show no signs of stopping. I typically release 2–3 chapters a week, and these updates are almost always 3,500 words or longer.
