Part 089

I stared mindlessly at the fighting going on in front of me. Through a cruel twist of fate, a mere human had imprisoned my soul and body in his grasp. I cannot move under my own willpower anymore. I cannot speak, move, or otherwise interact with anything.

I simply stare out of my eyes, unblinkingly. I can’t even move them to follow what’s going on. Everything I see is a blur.

Hoarhiim and Blaarjiim, the lords that condensed their power into spherical bodies many years ago, are now somehow in human form. I stand very far away from the battle, in relative safety I might add, as they have all but ignored me.

I don’t like safety though. I wish they would simply kill me. A lack of autonomy is true hell, having to wordlessly endure the suffering of being ordered around by a lowly human… this is true Hell.

A great mind once said that suffering is different for all beings. For a slug, pouring salt on its body brings incredible suffering, yet many forms of livestock would greedily eat that same salt if given the chance.

There are those who hate any kind of pain, and those who love to feel it. People exist who love the sight of fire, and others exist who abhor it.

And for me, this is my hell.

A total lack of bodily control. Watching helplessly as far greater beings amuse themselves with a battle of the ages. They get to have fun. They get to stay alive and retain their autonomy.

Perhaps it is my fault. I always thought myself perfect, I always thought of other beings as lesser, yet in the end, I was bested by a lesser being. When I think about it, I realize that I was the lesser being all along. I’d weep right now if I could.

Sigh… I can’t even close my eyes and sleep.

This… is true Hell.

      1. then you missed it a lot, cause every chapter is interesting and now be a good boy and do so;-) seriously the way you switch views over and over is awsome

        1. It’s also hard switching from 1st to third person to a different character’s first and third person, it’s very difficult for me to do mentally, which always makes new character perspective chapters take MUCH longer to write than usual.

Like the one I’m writing now.

          1. When i started writing I always wrote 1st person, but 3rd person is actually a lot better to read and only make very important bits 1st person.

All knowing narrator for 3rd person is most easy to do, so you only have to individualice for 1st person. Didnt really pay atention if you even have a narrator, but seems to me like you dont, you have just a shitload of viewpoints from a ton of characters.

Maybe you can make it a bit easier on yourself. Human immagination is very powerfull one or two emotions and thoughts per person and narrated what they do build a picture as much as writing it all step by step.

Bt thats just my thought on it, try it or don’t. Might work for you.

  1. This is kinda funny, considering it’s almost the same exact thing that happens to one of the people from the original /r/WritingPrompts thread about cryopods.
